What people are saying about the 2016 Dance Marathon

The 2016 6th Annual 5K DFAC Dance Marathon was the biggest one ever held on Cape Cod! Mashpee High School was the site of this record setting fund raiser including ages 1-87 and featuring dance groups from community organizations and studios. On Feb. 6th, marathoners boogied for 3 hours and raised well over $16,000. Maggie Kudirka, the Bald Ballerina was the Celebrity Guest emcee and Adrienne Canterna was the Guest dancer. A fabulous time was had by all! All proceeds will support vital breast and ovarian cancer research projects at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Thank you to all you attended, donated items for the many opportunity baskets, made contributions, or simply helped spread the word about the event. We hope you will join us next year as we continue to DANCE FOR A CURE!

What people are saying about the 5K Dance Marathon…

- Once again, It was such an honor to be part of such an important and incredible event!! Susan your dedication and devotion to this great cause emulates through to all who participate!! The energy was awesome and we all had a "Blast"!! Loved watching all ages out there dancing, moving and more importantly smiling to great songs and dances!! And loved listening to all the touching dedications to those that are fighting their battles, and those that are no longer suffering due to this horrific disease!! Great job and I can't thank you enough for asking me to participate again!! I am looking forward to my 4th year with you!! ~ Adult Marathoner

- I loved the event because I love how its a chance for us all to get together and just have fun doing what we love. I love getting to meet dancers from other studios and from places on the Cape. I think its really cool that everyone came together to support this cause. Also, from being involved with Dancing For a Cure, the Dana-Farber performance, participating in the dance marathon for 3 years, I have become more aware of the effects of cancer throughout the world and throughout our community. It has made me want to donate and help in any way I possibly can. After hearing about childhood cancer stories from some families around town, and breast/ovarian cancer stories, It really pushes me to make a stand and to contribute to helping find a cure. I love making clips (for hair) with multiple flowers and accessories and my dad and I have talked about maybe starting selling them and have the money go to a cancer foundation to help the people battling the hardest battles. Thank you so much for starting this program and this marathon and opening my eyes to what our world is like and what people are battling and the ACTUAL struggles in life. This has really pushed me to appreciate the life I have and what I can do and how lucky I am to be healthy. ~ Student Marathoner

- Just a note to thank our fearless leader, Susan, for bringing us together to be a part of such a special event. Susan, ever the warrior, has done so much to further research and awareness of Ovarian and Breast Cancers, while creating such a devoted community of supporters. Saturday night was nothing short of amazing! I know that everyone who battles Cancer, who has a loved one dealing with Cancer, or who has lost someone to Cancer, felt a tremendous sense of being cared for and supported. You could not help but be swept up in the emotion of it all. Everyone who participated had such fun, and shared such compassion for the cause. Thank you , Susan, for all you have given us.
Can't wait for next year!!! ~ DFAC Committee Member

- I’m so happy that I have such an amazing event to look forward to every year! Together we can move mountains and destroy cancer! ~ Student Marathoner
